Dovetail Step Stool
Students will make a simple step stool while learning to hand cut through dovetails. Dovetails are a time tested, gorgeous and mechanically strong method of joinery. Students will be provided with pre-milled lumber in a kit fashion so we can concentrate on the joinery. Multiple practice pieces will be executed to build confidence and skill before tackling the stool itself. This is a great skill building workshop, cutting dovetails by hand is a challenge that is well worth the time and effort. We will apply finish to our stools should time allow. While no previous woodworking experience is necessary, it is certainly helpful. We will be using predominantly hand tools, including saws and chisels.
Prerequisite: Open to beginners, recommended for those with previous woodworking experience.
Workshop hours are Friday, 6:30pm-9:30pm, Saturday/Sunday 9:00am-4:00pm
