Exploring Non Conventional Looms
Experiment with weaving utilizing scale, shape, and structure beyond constraints of conventional looms. Woven material is created by interlocking two sets of threads called warp and weft over and under one another to create a textile. Using the basic structural components of weaving, this class will explore creation of looms from uncommon or found materials as well as architectural space. In this course, students will learn about helpful tools and ways to create woven forms from their own material and conceptual sources both individually and as a group project.
