Expressive Conjunctions: Alternative Wheel-throwing, Hand-building, and Glazing Techniques

This course will focus on various techniques for making functional and sculptural forms using alternative methods of construction and glazing. You will learn to utilize precision wheel-throwing, sodium silicate, stretch-faceting, altering and combining slab-built and wheel-thrown parts, making and using tar-paper templates to construct slab-built forms, glaze-trailing, bubble-glazing, alternative spray-glazing, and basic glaze-mixing skills. You will explore making vases, bowls, casseroles, cups, bottles, and lidded vessels.

Prerequisites: Beginning to intermediate wheel-throwing and hand-building skills. No glazing experience needed, though it is recommended.
