Loom Weaving:Aesthetic Design+Material Function
Weave useable wares on jack style floor looms with focus from start to finish on aesthetic design and material function. Create a project of choice by learning to select warp and weft suitable for durability and desired visual qualities. Rugs, placemats, runners, and more each require specialized materials to become useful parts of everyday life. The class will begin with lessons on basic weaving terms and yarns along with design and color composition sampling. Calculate scale, yarn densities, and understand basic pattern drafting. Each student will learn how to prepare and weave a project of choice on one of OCAC’s Macomber looms.
