Maker Space: Fibers and Textiles

Dream it and make it!

Come explore the world of making in a collaborative and creative environment. Our studios provide a community of members that feed inspiration and support making. Maker Space Fibers and Textiles is designed for experienced artists and makers who have the independent skills necessary to bring their ideas to fruition. You will have access to our Open Studio hours, and select equipment, following all policies and procedures required in each department and studio. After approval of your Maker Space request from a studio manager and department head, you will be given an orientation on policies, equipment safety and clean-up to ensure success in our studios.

Approved Maker Space students in FIBERS will be offered a locker in the Fiber Department (dry storage only). Storage space in the Dye Studio is limited. We can designate a small area (shelf) for Maker Space Dye Studio storage. You may store dye stuffs in the Dye Lab refrigerator for up to 1 month.  The jacquard loom is unavailable.

Please note that fees do not cover materials. Any materials being brought in by students must have prior approval for use.

Prerequisites: All Maker Space students are required to have taken workshops and classes at OCAC and have been trained specifically on OCAC's equipment. All Maker Space students are required to have prior experience, be self-sufficient and demonstrate safe and responsible use of equipment. Students must be at an intermediate/advanced skill level. Students are selected based on skill level, safety, responsibility, positive community member and project ideas. Registration is contingent upon approval and space availability.
