Mechanisms 101

Details

Explore the different types of small scale geared, hinged, and pulley driven mechanisms. Topics include identifying/sourcing parts, material selection, motion theory, design, and layout. Fabrication covers cutting, soldering, forming, drilling/tapping and basic turning.

Have some design ideas ready for a project before class. A small brass three gear set will be provided to get things moving!                                                                                                                                                                          

Prerequisites: Basic soldering/metalsmithing skills and basic math skills preferred
