Thinking in Multiples

Details

Molds can be a great tool for the ceramic artist. In this class, Chanda will share the basics of making your own plaster and bisque molds for functional or sculptural work. One part, two part, gang, sprig and bisque molds will be covered and demonstrated, as well as the formulation and use of casting slip. Finished student molds can be used for slip-casting, press-molding, building with coils, slabs or throwing on the wheel. Personalizing the work after it emerges from the mold by altering, paddling and joining various components together will also be discussed and demonstrated. The class will be structured to allow ample time for students to make molds as well as create finished work. All skill levels welcome.
