CATHY DENNING received her M.A. in Art History from the University of Oregon, where she specialized in contemporary art, critical theory, and visual culture. Though her scholarship is quite eclectic, she writes most frequently about performance, photography, socially engaged art practices, American cultural politics, and issues of race, class, gender and sexuality. While a graduate student, Cathy worked as a teaching fellow in her department and as a curatorial fellow at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Before moving to the Northwest, she worked as a photographer in Kansas City after completing degrees in art history and photography at the Kansas City Art Institute. Cathy is currently an Art History Instructor at Oregon State University. She also works with the Dean of Academic Affairs and serves as the Accreditation Liaison Officer at the Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland.
