Motzer, Mackinley

MACKINLEY MOTZER is an artist and co-owner of Woobie & Warfly in Northeast Portland. In 2016 she received her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art focusing in Fiber, and explores crochet as her main method of making. Her exploration of crochet for her conceptual work focusing on gender roles and familial expectation takes the form of wearable garments/costumes that become activated through documented performance. While Motzer also creates wearable garments and costumes for Woobie & Warfly, she also puts her energy into creating a line of handmade stuffed animals, “Woobies”, and constructing garments and patterns for yardage, of which can be viewed at Portland’s Saturday Market.
